Do I have to pay a deductible for hail repair?

Hail Damage Deductibles

Just like any other category of insurance, there is a deductible that must be paid by the insured before the insurance company will pay the remaining balance of the bill.

For auto insurance, the amount really depends on the insurance type and level of coverage. The national average cost obligation for an auto hail repair with a comprehensive insurance policy is $500.

Comprehensive insurance is also the only level of coverage that will pay to repair hail damage or any other damage caused by Mother Nature.

What level of Auto Insurance do I have?

We do suggest that you contact your insurance company and verify that you have comprehensive insurance.  Full coverage is different than comprehensive coverage. When you get a loan for a new vehicle, your lender will require you to have a comprehensive coverage policy in order to cover the cost of any collision damage, everyday incidentals, and damages caused by Mother Nature.

If you live in an area of the country that has regular occurrences of hail, tornados, hurricanes, or flooding and intend on reselling your vehicle at some point in time, we also suggest you upgrade your current plan to comprehensive coverage.

Do I have to pay a deductible if my hail damage is less than the deductible cost?

Unfortunately, yes but don’t be too concerned until you get a hail damage inspection from your local paintless dent repair shop. On average, your assigned insurance adjuster typically misses 30% to even 50% of the dents caused by hailstones!

If you have neighbors that have hail damage and have already had an inspection by a PDR shop professional, ask them how much they estimated your damage would cost to repair.

Also, if you live in an area that was hit by a significant amount of hail, especially if the hailstones were over 1.5″ in diameter, $500 more than likely will NOT cover the costs to repair your hail dent damage.

Get a second opinion from the auto hail repair specialists at Hail Depot. Our inspections are free and will only take about 15-20 of your time.
